Several reports have claimed that Samsung will seed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to dozens of its devices, including Galaxy Note 4, Note 5, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 and Galaxy A7, but it has released the firmware to only a couple of devices, that too long after many devices from its rival companies received it.
The South Korean electronics giant announced last week (Feb. 15) that it had started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. It went on to say that the firmware will be seeded to other Galaxy devices soon, but it didn't reveal the update schedule.
According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920C) in Cambodia with build number N920CXXU2BPB6, but it is not confirmed. The report also said that the firmware update should come with features like Doze, Google Now on Tap and browser with ad-blocking support.
Interestingly, Canadian carrier Telus has come out with the Android Marshmallow update schedule for a few devices, including Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It has listed the firmware update for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy edge+ on March 9, while the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are scheduled to get the OS on April 13 and March 16, respectively.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge were the first devices to get the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, and it was expected as Samsung released the firmware beta programme to these devices for testing.
Samsung is expected to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, Galaxy Tab S2 8, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab A 9.7, Galaxy Tab A 8, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy E7, Galaxy E5, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J2.
