Will my Device Get the Android 6? List of Phones/Tablets to Get the Marshmallow Update
Will my Device Get the Android 6 Marshmallow?
And the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is official and ready to install on the eligible Android devices. Like always the Nexus phones and tablets are the first in the line, followed by the Google Play Edition devices, Motorola and the other devices.
In this AW Center article, we review the official list of devices to get the Marshmallow update and of course the unofficial list.
Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player are the devices to get the Android 6.0 update and the older Nexus devices, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 10 will no more get the software update officially.
The Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are being shipped with Android Marshmallow by default.
Motorola
As Motorola is no longer a Google company, they have kind of disappointed their fans by not updating the Moto E and 2013 Moto X, the 2014 Moto X on AT&T and Verizon. By the way, here is the list of Motorola devices to get Android Marshmallow update:
2015 Moto X Pure Edition, 2015 Moto X Style, 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G, 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2, 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE, Motorola DROID Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, and 2014 Moto Turbo.
Update December 09: Good news to the owners of Moto X Pure Edition in the U.S. If your device is under Verizon, Sprint, or US Cellular contract, then you should see the update notification and install the Marshmallow on your phone.
Update: Moto X Style, Moto X Pure Edition (2015) and Moto X Pure Edition (2014) and Moto G (2015) are the devices which have already been updated to Android Marshmallow or the update has already began rolling out.
Samsung
The Korean OEM has not yet revealed its official plan to update the Galaxy devices to Android 6.0. But as for the rumors and speculations go, we expect these Samsung phones and tablets to get the Marshmallow update:
Galaxy S6 Edge+, Note 5, S6, S6 Edge, Note Edge, Note 4, Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab S2.
HTC
HTC have already announced its Android Marshmallow update plans and starting by the end of the year these devices will get the Android 6.0 update gradually:
HTC One M9, One M8, One M9+, One E9, One E9+, One ME, One E8, One M8 EYE, Butterfly 3, Desire 816, Desire 820, and Desire 826.
Update: Both Unlocked One M8 and One M9 have started to receive the Marshmallow update in the U.S.
LG
LG is the other Korean OEM who have not officially announced their Marshmallow update plan. But according to the LG's Korea support pages we should expect the LG G3 and LG G4 to get the Android Marshmallow and G Flex and G Flex 2 could also make their way to the list of devices running the Android 6.
Update November 17: The LG 3 owners are planned to skip the Android 5.1 Lollipop and jump right to the Marshmallow. According to the plan, the update will begin from Poland before the end of 2015 (sometime around December 17) and spread out worldwide. The same story is expected to happen for the LG G4.
Update November 29: European countries have already started seeding the Android Marshmallow for LG G4 devices. For now the update is only available via the LG Bridge and weighs about 1.5GB.
Sony
According to the Sony’s official statement, these devices will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update:
Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4.
Huawei
While the Chinese is still struggling with the Android Lollipop update, the Huawei Ascend P8 seems to be the first to taste the Marshmallow and believe the Huawei Mate 7 and Huawei Honor 6 plus could join the list.
Update: Huawei announced the official list of Huawei devices to get the Android Marshmallow update and here is the list: Huawei P8, Mate 7, Mate S, P8 youth edition, P8 Max, Maimang 4, G7 Plus, G7, Honor 7,7i, 6 Plus, 6, X2, 4X, and Play 4C. (And according to the list, Ascend P7 won't be running the Android 6 officially)
ASUS
ASUS has officially announced the following devices are eligible to get the Android 6 update at unknown time: ZenFone 2, ZenFone 2 Deluxe / Special Edition, ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone 2 Laser and PadFone S as the only tablet in the list.
Others
Update November 17: Both OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 are planned to be updated to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow sometime in first quarter of 2016.
