Today at their “Guts to Change” event, Micromax unveiled two new smartphones for the Indian market: the Canvas 6 and the Canvas 6 Pro. It appears that both devices will come with a 13,999 Rs. ($210 USD) price tag, and the Pro version has already gone on pre-sale through the company’s website.
So let’s dig into the nitty gritty here. What can we expect to be under the hood of these devices? Well, both are rocking some pretty beautiful 5.5-inch full-HD displays and come running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Both also have removable 3000mAh batteries and 13-megapixel rear cameras as well.
Some may be scratching their heads at the fact that both the Pro and ‘non-Pro’ variants are going for the same price. That’s because you get something of a trade-off in the remaining specs, so your call between the two would depend on your personal preferences. The Micromax Canvas 6 appears to be the shutterbug variant, with a better selfie-snapper (8MP to the Pro’s 5) and twice as much storage space as the Pro (32GB vs. 16GB). However, the Canvas 6 Pro has 4GB of RAM in contrast to the non-Pro’s 3, but the Pro does lack the fingerprint scanner that the Canvas 6 boasts – a first for a Micromax smartphone.
All in all, Micromax looks like they’re making a solid push for the Indian upper-mid-tier market with these two offerings. What are your thoughts on these devices? Let us know your take in the comments below, and stay tuned for all the latest updates on Android all over the world.
